The historical background of the French Bulldog

This breed, which only found its recognition in the FCI in 1984, is counted among the small dog-like dogs. Although the name suggests it, the French Bulldog has its actual historical background in no way in France.

Rather it goes back to the old breed of the English Bulldog, the so-called Old English Bulldog, briefly called OEB. Also this breed enjoys great popularity today. Originally used for cruel dog fights, this breed was quasi reinvented after the prohibition of dog fights.
